Although the Luxembourg armed forces were only founded at the end of the Second World War, the military history of our small country dates back to the first half of the 19th century. The town of Diekirch is a traditional garrison town with a rich military past.
On one side, several large-format dioramas show the most important aspects and eras of the Luxembourg ‘Volunteer Company’, which existed from 1881 to 1944, while on the other side, the development of the Luxembourg army after the Second World War is highlighted. Other sections are dedicated to the Luxembourg soldiers who fought in the Allied armies during the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. Luxembourg's UN missions are also covered and temporary exhibitions provide an overview of daily military life.
